We've always wanted to visit Bali and now with the Merdeka Long Weekend we flew from KL to Bali via Air Asia for our long awaited vacation! We checked in at Westin Nusa Dua at 1:30pm and headed for Kuta.
Bungy Jumping at AJ Hackett in Double 6 Beach Kuta
We did not hire a guide for our first day. We took a cab from our Hotel to Kuta for around USD 9. Checking on the Internet the jump was suppose to cost USD $79. But when we got there they told us it was the "old" price and that it now cost USD $99. We knew we're being ripped but since May really wanted to jump and I did not make any online reservations or purchases I paid the price. Take note, if you come between 1pm-4pm you get 2 jumps for the price of 1.
Double 6 Beach
This was actually the first beach we visited and is situated right next to the Bungy. It was rammed with tourists either surfing, sunbathing or exercising. Surfboards and other sports equipment are available for rent but be sure to "negotiate!".
There's also a row of restaurants on Double 6 Road. Don't bet on finding Balinese Food here. Most of the restaurants serve up Italian, Mediterranean and a mix of cuisines that probably represents a majority of the tourists' home country.
Mopeds are also the transportation of choice in Bali as evident by number of them parked on the beach. Both locals and tourists alike seem to use them!
Dinner at Jimbaran Bay
We found a driver that will take us to Jimbaran Bay for Dinner and back to our Hotel for $15 USD. There are a ton of restaurants all serving the same thing, Grilled Seafood. We found out that as you visit one restaurant after the next the food discounts got deeper. One restaurant even offered us 15% off + free transportation back to our hotel!
My recommendation is to visit a few restaurants and take the restaurant that gives the biggest discount and head back to the restaurant of your liking and ask them to price match!
Oh don't forget to go early. That way you could get a seat with no obstruction to the sunset. For a food review of our restaurant you can visit my other blog.
